LAW Process

LAW Process

Process for the combined production of light aggregates and energy using only industrial waste.

The LAW process was developed with the aim of expanding the field of waste that can be used in the Recbuild process and allows to obtain aggregates with physical mechanical characteristics slightly lower than those of the Recbuild process starting from a wide range of waste such as:

– foundry molding sludge;

– granite processing sludge;

– foundry smoke abatement powders;

– tanning muds;

– paper sludge;

– light and heavy ashes from waste incineration;

– sludge from water purification;

– organic waste of various kinds.

In the LAW process, the production of light aggregates is accompanied by the production of electricity deriving from the combustion of the organic fraction of the waste used.
The LAW process requires specific production plants and therefore allows to obtain various combined advantages:

– environmentally safe recycling of special or hazardous waste mixtures, with minimal production of further processing residues;

– effective stabilization of the heavy metals contained in the waste mixtures and complete thermal destruction of the organic pollutants initially present in the waste itself;

– production of light aggregates of good quality, with physical-mechanical characteristics only slightly lower than expanded clay;

– production of electricity in interesting quantities from an economic point of view.
