RECBUILD Process

RECBUILD Process

Process for the production of lightweight aggregates with exceptional physical-mechanical properties starting from coal combustion ash.

The Recbuild process makes it possible to transform suitable waste mixtures into light granules with exceptional physical, mechanical and chemical characteristics.
The components required for the process are:
  • coal combustion ash;
  • foundry smoke abatement powders;
  • patented expanding additive.
Through a high temperature cooking process in a rotary kiln it is possible to obtain granules with the following characteristics:

These characteristics make the obtained light aggregate considerably superior to the traditional expanded clays currently available on the market.

Up to now this process has been developed only at the laboratory level using an electric rotary kiln but in the future it will be possible to produce large batches of these aggregates using a plant similar to the one used for the LAW process experiments.
